5 Day NCFE Locksmith Accreditation Course Description

Our five day course provides an extensive and detailed understanding of Locksmith techniques that expose training Locksmiths to the practical elements of becoming and operating as a Locksmith. Our Level 4 accredited Locksmith course is approved by the NCFE and taught by some of the Locksmith industry’s leading experts so that our students have the opportunity to learn from expert professionals whilst they hone their Locksmith skills.


Our Locksmith accreditation (also referred to as a customised qualification) is specifically designed towards newcomers to the Locksmith profession and is the highest accreditation you can currently gain within the UK.  Our Level 4 accredited Locksmith course is nationally recognised and held in high regards across the industry for our practical, hands on training techniques and high quality course content which encompasses the essential foundation skills required to become a professional Locksmith. Our Locksmith accreditation was created with our trainees in mind, designed to maximise the knowledge, techniques and skills shared so that you are prepared to begin trading as a Locksmith: whether working within your own Locksmith business or with Keytek® Locksmiths as an approved sub-contractor within our national engineer network.

Course Breakdown

Our accredited Locksmith course runs Monday to Friday, with expert tutorage covering a wide range of Locksmith techniques that include identification, operation and upgrading alongside fitment and opening techniques of the most common lock types. Our course is specifically designed for maximum learning and is optimised to ensure that all students are the recipients of effective communication and the highest quality Locksmith education.


Lock Types Covered on our 5 day Locksmith Accreditation

We cover an extensive range of lock types on our Locksmith accreditation course, to provide as extensive of an education as possible. Some examples of the most common lock types which our accredited Locksmith course covers are:

  • Cylinders: Including Euro, Oval and Rim.


  • Backsets: Including Standard, British Standard and Specialist.


  • Mortice Locks: Including 2 lever, 3 lever and 5 lever British Standard mortice dead locks and sash locks.


  • uPVC Doors Locks and Mechanisms: Including fault identification, replacement, and temporary repairing.




Our Accredited Locksmith Course Additional Content

Our accredited Locksmith course is designed to not only cover the essential parts of Locksmithing but also encompasses units dedicated to furthering education and knowledge. On our course we also have units that cover:

  • Additional Security Products
  • Key cutting
  • Basic vehicle opening and key retrieval
  • Skill Enhancement Sessions



New Additions to the Accredited Locksmith Course for 2022!

In our commitment to offer our students unmatched Locksmith training opportunities we have added some new units for 2022 which further enhance our student’s Locksmithing knowledge and skill sets.

Our accredited Locksmith course now includes:

  • Non-destructive entry to traditional and combination padlocks
  • De-coding and entry techniques for Keysafes
  • Destructive and non-destructive entry to safes using Tubular Lock Picks
  • De-coding and non-destructive entry techniques for mechanical digi locks
  • An introduction to single pin picking on a variety of locks


Course Sizes

Our Five Day Accredited Locksmith Course has maximum class numbers set at 5 students to ensure students have the assistance and support they need to gain the NCFE Level 4 Accreditation. Whilst on the course you have the benefit of your own workspace, practise door and tool kit to use whilst on our accredited Locksmith course to ensure that you maximise your time with us at our purpose built, state of the art training facility.
