The Level 3 Diploma for Commercial Locksmiths and Property Security was the first officially recognised Locksmith Qualification (governed by Ofqual) within the Locksmith industry.
Completing the Locksmith Qualification with Keytek® at our purpose-built training academy means that you will hold an official Locksmith Qualification and will be trained to the highest standards by our professional Locksmith tutor. This course is perfect to start to your Locksmith career and for those looking to gain an official Locksmith Qualification. Our Locksmith course is ELCAS approved, so you can use your Enhanced Learning Credits to begin your new career after leaving the military.

- Basic DBS check (completed within the last 3 years)
Practical 8 Days of the Locksmith Course
Taught in our purpose-built facility with a maximum of 4 students on each Locksmith course you’ll learn practical Locksmith skills. Our expert trainers are on hand to ensure that each student gets a full understanding, and the dedicated time and support to excel in their new skillset.
Covering the essentials such a lock types, picking, entry techniques and fitment, the course is designed to show you the knowledge and skills necessary for a Locksmith.
You’ll also learn advanced tips and tricks about garage doors and commercial locks, whilst also given plenty of time to go back over skills you have learned to ensure that you are fully comfortable with the content on our Locksmith course.
What’s more you will also be given industry scenario training to help get you ready for your first Locksmith job on a customer’s door, which we know can feel daunting if it is your first time in this scenario.
Upon successful completion of this section of the course, you will gain the Advanced Certificate in Locksmithing Level 4*
Practical 8 Days of the Locksmith Course
- Understand how a range of different lock types work and operate
- Ability to gain entry non-destructively to a range of different lock and door types
- Be able to gain entry destructively to a range of different lock and door types
- Able to fit a range of locks from fresh
- Able to replace / upgrade a range of locks
- Be able to identify and rectify faults in security devices and door hardware
- Know how to cut and provide keys
- Euro, Oval and Rim Cylinders
- Standard, British Standard and specialist Nightlatches
- 2, 3 and 5 lever (British Standard) Mortice locks
- Sash locks
- uPVC mechanism
- Security devices
Distanced Learning
Supported by a dedicated online portal, you’ll be guided through evidence collection to show that you can practically apply what you have learnt on the locksmith course. Much of this gathered during the practical 8 days of the locksmith course, with any additional evidence supported through examples and templates accessible on the portal.
Upon successful completion of this section of the Locksmith course, you will be awarded with a Highfield Level 3 Diploma for Commercial Locksmiths and Property Security – a full Locksmith qualification.

We are ELCAS providers, so if you are a military leaver and are entitled to Enhanced Learning Credits through ELCAS, you can use your funding to begin your new career as a Locksmith.
We are one of the only ELCAS providers to offer the Highfield Level 3 Diploma for Commercial Locksmiths and Property Security and also offer the unique opportunity to join an industry that is engaging, diverse and offers plenty of career development.
