We here at Keytek® are not going to let the coronavirus stop any aspiring Locksmiths from starting their new career. With the Covid-19 pandemic ongoing and looking unlikely to let up anytime soon, we have changed the way you can partake in our Official Locksmith Qualification

As per government guidelines our academy is currently closed, however some aspects of the course are available for you to complete online via a live lesson video link. Parts of the course, such as; introduction to the role of the Locksmith, reducing the risks to health and safety at work, communicating effectively with others and conducting dynamic risk assessments during locksmith activities, will be done via video conference at a set time with other course participants. Our expert tutor will go through these aspects with you live via a video call and answer any questions you have on the topics.

By booking on to do these aspects of our course online, you will guarantee your place on the practical course when our academy re-opens. This means that if you are in the military or ex-military and need to use your ELCAS credits before restrictions are lifted, you can use them with Keytek® and not let them go to waste. As soon as the Academy is back open (in line with government guidance) we will be booking in the practical aspect of the course, this does mean that there will be a period of time between the virtual part of the course and the practical aspects but we will endeavour to get you to the Academy as soon as we can.

By starting online, you are setting yourself up well for the future hands-on training as you will have an understanding of working as a Locksmith, as well as a detailed understanding of the practical side of the course. It’s worth remembering that once you complete the 5 days of practical training, you will have an NCFE Level 4 Accreditation in Locksmithing*, which means you will be able to start attending jobs and earning money. This can be done independently, or you can join our expert network of sub-contractors to help you get started. Whilst you are taking on work, you can also submit your evidence required for your full Level 3 Diploma in Locksmithing and Property Security. The period suggested for this is 3-6 months and Keytek® will be on hand to offer any guidance and support you need to gain your qualification quickly and successfully both at the end of the phone and through our purpose built knowledge portal.

*For the NCFE certificate there is an additional charge of £10. For military personnel this cannot be funded through the ELC scheme and needs to be a separate transaction.
