What Skills Do You Need To Be A Locksmith?
People Skills
Being a friendly and approachable Locksmith will get you far in this industry! People are more likely to recommend your business if you are helpful and get the job done quickly and efficiently.
Problem Solving Skills
When out and about, you may be lone working for most of your time, so it’s key that you can solve problems and fix any issues that happen. A Locksmith needs to adapt and work with what they have in their van at the time and will always need to ensure they’ve left the customer safe and secure.
Quick Thinking Skills
Being quick on your feet is an essential skill for a Locksmith! Every day there will be a new job to tackle, or a unique lock you may not have seen before and it’s crucial that you can create a plan of action quickly in these situations. Whether it’s popping to the local lock store, or calling a more experienced Locksmith for advice, you’ll need to think of the best solution to any problem that you come across.
Should I Join a Locksmithing Course?
If you were thinking of becoming a Locksmith or want to build your skills so you can join the Locksmith trade, we’d recommend going on a Locksmith training course to offer an accredited service and be a reputable business. What Hours Do Locksmiths Work?
Do Locksmiths Work on Weekends?
The hours you work depend on your lifestyle. Many Locksmiths work full-time and offer 24-hour services, as sometimes they are needed overnight. Locksmiths are also often required over the weekend, so many also work these times as well.
Although sometimes a Locksmith’s hours can be long and unsociable, there is usually an out-of-working-hours extra charge for working Monday to Friday evenings and weekends, so you’d get higher pay.
But at the end of the day, you decide the hours you work, and whether you want to work evenings or weekends is down to you. If you’d rather work early, late or work up until the school run. You can manage your calendar in the best way for you.
Is Auto Locksmith A Good Career?
Auto Locksmithing is a great specialism to get into. Although the cost is high to get the specialist auto Locksmith training and the tools needed, once you’ve completed the short auto Locksmithing course and bought the equipment you’ll need to get auto Locksmith jobs, the pay is much higher than a normal Locksmithing job and therefore more rewarding.
Due to the cost of becoming an auto Locksmith, the market is less saturated so it’s an easier market to break into and get more auto Locksmith jobs.
