The Original Portable Door Lock by Addalock

This portable lock secures a door by inserting mental claws into the strike plate when the door is open. Once you close the door, the Addalock is installed, meaning it is impossible for even those with a key, to open the door from the inside. This lock is great to use in a hotel, university halls or a new rental property.

What we like- designed to travel well; it comes with its own storage pouch.

What we don’t like– this portable lock might not be effective with doors with a large deadbolt.

Travelers Security Lock

The Travelers Security lock could be the most secure on this list, however it does come with a hefty price tag. Made from aircraft-grade aluminium it can withstand enormous pressure, making it a great choice for the security conscious traveller. You can use this lock on left and right facing doors and it’s super easy to install. The key to the security of the Travelers Security lock is the way it redistributes any force applied to it, the door and door frame, it’s the definition of small but mighty.

What we like- the materials this lock is made from make it the toughest out there.

What we don’t like- it is the most expensive lock on our list. Plus, users that have mobility issues have reported trouble installing it.

Calslock Portable Door Lock for Travel

The Calslock is the size of 2 pens, but don’t let that fool you, it’s made of strong stuff. The Calsolock works by hooking into the strike plate, then squeezing and pulling back the side bar when the door is open. Once the door is closed you squeeze the side bar and push it against the door. Like the other locks, this is good for use in hotels and university halls, or if you are anywhere that people might have access to your door.

What we like– not only does this portable lock provide resistance for someone pushing against the door. It will also emit a loud noise to alert you to a possible intruder.

What we don’t like- you can only use this lock on a door that swings inwards.

AceMining Portable Door Lock

The AceMining portable lock can be installed within seconds, in the dark and in an emergency situation if needed. The rock-hard stainless steel will resist the most immense pressure and will protect you from forced entry. It was made with a wide range of uses in mind, so it’s a good choice for those with pets and children.

What we like– will fit the majority of doors and can be installed extremely quickly.

What we don’t like– the one weakness of this lock is the chain, it seems flimsy. However this doesn’t affect overall use.

VINCREY Portable Door Lock

You might have to read the instructions for this lock carefully, but once you’ve got it down, installing it is the simplest of tasks. Working on the majority of doors, it should stop any unwanted person from getting through your door, even if they have a key. The stainless steel used to make this lock is actually thicker than most installed locks, so you can be confident in your security when this is installed. This is perfect for those who travel alone.
